Millie and Severson began as a simple partnership between Mr. Noble Millie and Mr. Charles Severson in 1945. World War II had just ended, and the two USC engineering graduates had completed their war-time work building Liberty Ships in Los Angeles.
Millie and Severson incorporated.
The duo got in at the ground floor of the tilt-up concrete industrial boom.
Millie and Severson was asked to construct a small, wood-frame community hospital for a developer who built many more. They were then able to parlay their hospital background into the medical office building business.
The firm moved smoothly into the commercial office building business.
Millie and Severson built single-family housing and apartment projects from the orange fields of the Inland Empire to Arizona and Nevada, and the firm completed all concrete rough framing jobs with its own crews.
Mr. Millie passed, and Mr. Severson started an Employee Stock Ownership Plan to reward non-union office workers with a viable pension plan. The ESOT now holds a controlling interest in the firm.
Charles Severson’s son Jonathan joined the firm, shortly after Mr. Millie’s death.
The firm again branched out, adding a large body of institutional clients such as Pepperdine and Biola Universities to our history.
Over the years, our diversity of project type clearly distinguishes us from many of our competitors. We've built hundreds of industrial buildings, worked on over 50 hospital campuses, built innumerous medical and commercial office buildings, and can count some very prestigious universities as repeat clients.
Jonathon Severson steps down as President and son Ben Severson takes over as new President of Millie and Severson. Clark Severson moves into the role of Chairman of the Board and General Counsel.
