Community

Millie and Severson believes in the true value of giving back to our communities and do so as a company and as individuals. We have supported some causes for many years and some we’ve just begun. But one thing remains the same – we will always care about our communities and will give freely to make them better for everyone.

Green Team

Our Green Team started in 2014 and has accomplished many initiatives, leading to the elimination of single use coffee cups, plates and utensils; reducing paper use through more digital efforts; supporting LEED accreditation with financial incentives; and planting drought-tolerant vegetation in our garden. The team recently celebrated Earth Day with a company picnic that featured our newly-planted herb garden, a raffle to benefit Precious Life Shelter with a sustainable gift, and plenty of free plants and herbs for every staff member who wants to start their own garden at home.

Good Things Come To Those Who Give

A lot of the good works we do are driven by our employees’ commitments to their communities. When someone rings out a rallying cry, most of us show up to pitch in.

Save Our Beach

Millie and Severson is a proud supporter of Save Our Beach and regularly participates in beach cleanups in nearby Seal Beach. To participate and learn more, visit Save Our Beach here.

ACE Mentoring

Scott Hayes, Millie and Severson’s Chief Estimator, has been participating with the ACE Mentor program for more than 5 years. Scott commits at least 2 hours each week to mentor young students and teach them about the rewards of a career in architecture, construction and engineering.

Millie and Severson Volunteer Day to help the community of Compton and its California Prep Academy

We built four picnic tables, a storage shed and constructed outdoor chalkboard walls. Other projects in-cluded repairing a fence, transforming outdoor furniture with whimsical colors and all kinds of hauling, organizing and cleaning. There was an army of volunteers, not only from Millie and Severson, but also from nearby schools and Saddleback Church.

Serving The Underserved

We believe that every small thing we can do to help those less fortunate than ourselves makes a big difference. That’s why so many of our efforts are focused on actions that impact our very local communities as well as those in need across the globe.

Giving Back

Millie and Severson is proud to support a variety of organizations that are important to our employees and our clients. Each year we give generously to causes ranging from the Boys & Girls Club to City of Hope to Habitat for Humanity through cash contributions.

As part of Giving back, we were delighted to support local charity Precious Life Shelter. The goal of the shelter is for each woman to regain stability and become self-reliant. To that end, construction recently wrapped up on the beautiful new residences on Cherry Street, with a Ribbon Cutting and dedication. The new property will offer permanent housing for qualified graduates and their children.

Operation Christmas Child

For the fifth consecutive year, Millie and Severson employees take part in Operation Christmas Child, a gift drive to provide Christmas cheer to less fortunate children outside the United States. Boxes are provided for employees to fill up with toys, clothes and essentials, giving every child the thrill of having a gift on Christmas day. The program, sponsored by Samaritan’s Purse, has reached more than 135 million children all across the globe and reminds us all of the joy of giving back. To learn more about Operation Christmas Child, please visit them here.

Toys for Tots

Millie and Severson has been a proud supporter of Toys for Tots for the past five years. The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Tots for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community in which the campaign is conducted. Our toy donations are turned over to the Naval Station in Seal Beach.

Tour of Long Beach

22 Millie and Severson employees and their families participated in the Tour of Long Beach. The team rode to support pediatric cancer research at Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital Long Beach with a goal of raising $3,000.

Concerned Family Kitchen

Millie and Severson was proud to be a part of the team who undertook the remodeling of The Concerned Family kitchen which provides hot food and outreach to homeless and low-income community members of the Mead Valley area. The remodel was wholly funded by donations of both funds and labor from Trammell Crow Company and its partners, including Millie and Severson, consultants and suppliers. The remodel delivered a new commercial kitchen which will allow TCF to expand its services to benefit the Mead Valley Community. In the long term, the kitchen will also serve as a training ground for people coming out of incarceration who have no skills with which to get gainful employment. Over 20 organizations donated their time and/or materials for this project.
