Congratulations to our sister company, Smith and Severson Builders, for being named one of Orange County’s Top Tenant Improvement Contractors by the Orange County Business Journal! The company climbed three spots to number 12 thanks to another year of double digit growth.
Millie and Severson is excited to be a part of the amazing team who are creating Laserfiche’s new corporate headquarters. The development, which is poised to create a new landmark in Long Beach, is being spearheaded by Urbana Development, another Long Beach company with strong ties to the community. Designed by Studio One Eleven, Laserfiche’s new headquarters will enable the company to double its employee count from 300 to 600. Millie and Severson is providing preconstruction services now in collaboration with Urbana Development, Studio One Eleven and the other key consultants for the project. A groundbreaking ceremony was held on July 11th.The project has been designed to earn LEED and WELL Gold certifications. For updates, follow #LaserficheHQ on social media.
Millie and Severson recently completed construction on the Prologis Park Rialto I-210 Distribution Center, comprising two buildings and nearly 800,000 square feet. The buildings each feature 36' clear heights, ESFR fire sprinkler systems, two-story office space with high-end finishes, and secured concrete truck courts. Building 5 is 390,521 sf and offers 56 dock high doors, 71 trailer stalls and 137 auto stalls. Building 7 is 475,555 sf and features 69 dock high doors, 153 trailer stalls and 142 auto stalls. Both buildings are LEED Certified.
The Orange County Business Journal’s annual ranking of private OC-based companies ranks Millie and Severson at #52. Headquartered in Orange County for nearly four decades, we are honored to make the list year after year.
Our latest project for OMP, Pacific Commons South, was ranked the 8th Largest Construction Project in Silicon Valley by the Silicon Valley Business Journal. At 973,079 sf, phase one of the 1.7 million sf development is well underway with anticipated completion by the end of the year. Once fully built out, the new campus in Fremont will feature ten free-standing buildings offering distinctive entries and window lines on a 134 acre site.

Attendees from across the spectrum of commercial real estate gathered at the Hyatt Regency in Long Beach to discuss the factors and trends that are driving industrial development in the West.

ENR has released its annual ranking of Top Contractors in the country and Millie and Severson made the list again at number 263. ENR ranks firms based on revenue in the previous year and through its survey process is able to glean insights and trends about the industry as a whole. Check out the list and article here.
Millie and Severson continued our tradition of safety excellence by participating in National Safety Stand-Downs last week. Our Northern California Division conducted their event at Overton Moore Properties’ Pacific Commons South project in Fremont, where more than 145 construction professionals participated. In Southern California, workers Stood Down for Safety at our Medical Office Building project at Riverside University Health System in Moreno Valley. Safety Director Ronnie Galvan kicked off each event with a reminder of the importance of safety on every job site, every day. Certex USA provided great demonstrations of fall protection equipment and CalOSHA spoke about our excellent safety practices and described safety techniques, reinforcing that our collective goal is that every project team member go home at the end of the day without any incident. Millie and Severson Division President Bob Wissmann thanked workers for taking the time to Stand Down for Safety before they were treated to catered lunch and a raffle for great prizes.
More than 65 commercial real estate professionals came together on April 30th for an insider’s look at the challenges and opportunities behind the Bay Area’s largest industrial project – Pacific Commons South in Fremont. Timur Tecimer, President of OMP, the developer behind the 1.7+ million square foot/10-building project, and Kevin Pirozzoli from Invesco, provided great insight into what went into making the deal work. They were joined by CBRE’s Rob Shannon who discussed the dynamics of the Bay Area industrial market that made development of the project possible. Attendees also heard about the project’s design considerations from HPA Studio Director Teresa Goodwin, while Brian Andrew, Division Vice President of Millie and Severson General Contractors, offered more insights on construction techniques used to bring the project to life. Millie and Severson celebrated Earth Day a little early this year with a picnic on the patio! Our annual raffle raised money for local wildlife preservation efforts. Each of the raffle prizes was selected to help encourage an eco-friendly lifestyle, including reusable straws + utensils, a solar-powered charger, National Forest Adventure pass and more. Employees were treated to a tasty lunch of locally grown food and participated in a repurposing competition. In the spirit of this year’s Earth Day theme, “Protect Our Species,” we would like to thank our awesome employees for raising funds to benefit the El Dorado Nature Center, Bolsa Chica Wetlands and Seal Beach Wildlife Refuge. Millie and Severson’s commitment to sustainability continues in the field as we help our clients build healthy, efficient buildings.
Congratulations to David Bayliss for being promoted to Senior Director of Client and Project Development! Dave joined our Northern California division in 2016 and has been instrumental in driving our growth in the region. He leads our business development and preconstruction efforts in Northern California across the Industrial, Office, Healthcare, Education, Hospitality and Senior Living sectors for ground-up, tenant improvement, and adaptive reuse projects.
