We are excited to announce that Scannell Properties has selected Millie and Severson, General Contractors to build its new Chino Parcel Delivery Facility. The project received enthusiastic support from the City of Chino for the 460,515 sf state-of-the-art distribution building, which will bring significant career opportunities and street improvements to the local community.

Millie and Severson is excited to announce that we’ve started construction on the new Kearny Mesa Logistics Center in San Diego that’s being developed by Lincoln Property Company. The 299,381 sf industrial tilt-up was designed by SCA Architecture.

We’ve started lifting panels at our new industrial project for Duke Realty in Lathrop. We’re about a third of the way done and all panels will be lifted next week.  Next, we’ll be installing steel columns and beams, followed by the panelized roof system. #goingvertical #buildingahigherstandard

What a milestone! Jefferson Street Hotel, LLC - AC Hotel & Residence Inn by Marriott, We celebrated the Topping Out of the concrete superstructure with the last concrete pour completed. Thanks to all our subcontractor partners, our client Hawkins Way Capital, LLC and architect Stanton Architecture for helping us reach this important milestone.

It’s so nice to be back with our friends from NAIOP Inland Empire! Yesterday’s annual golf tournament was especially fun, given the many months that we’ve gone without in-person events. Dedeaux Properties has tapped Millie and Severson for the construction of the new Walnut Avenue Terminal, a 205,590 sf industrial project located in Perris. Designed by Carlile Coatsworth Architects, we will begin mobilizing for construction soon.

Millie and Severson is happy to announce the completion of a new Class A industrial building for EverWest Real Estate Investors at 86 Montecito Vista Drive in San Jose, CA. The 80,260 sf building offers 2 potential tenant spaces, 129 parking stalls and 10 docks. The 5.1-acre site is centrally located in San Jose with easy access to Hwys. 87 and 280 and quick access to all of Silicon Valley. This is our second construction project - delivered from our Northern California Division - for our friends at EverWest.

The Prologis Vernon Business Center was honored at this year’s Los Angeles Business Journal’s annual Commercial Real Estate awards as a Silver Award winner in the Industrial sector. A state of the art, brand new Class “A” logistics development, the Prologis Vernon Business Center features two buildings totaling 346,181 square feet. The project is located in the Central Los Angeles market with excellent access to major freeways, Downtown Los Angeles, and the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. The City of Vernon address offers the customers in the buildings access to the City of Vernon “Exclusively Industrial” designation including no gross receipts tax, low business license fees, and consistently low Vernon utility rates. A few of the development highlights include 36’ clear height, wide joist 8” concrete slabs, and LEED Silver certification. Each building was leased by a global e-commerce logistics company. Millie and Severson was proud to build the project on behalf of Prologis.

We just placed concrete on the 12th floor of the new AC Hotel & Residence Inn by Marriott in Oakland. Once completed, the 185,934 sf hotel will rise 18 Stories and offer 286 Guest Rooms, Guest Services at floors 1 and 2, and back of house and laundry in the basement level. The next milestone we are working towards is Concrete Top Out which we anticipate completing May 30, 2021.

 We are so excited to be building another great industrial project for our friends at Duke Realty Corporation! We just broke ground on the new 346,860 sf industrial building that was designed by HPA Architecture Ltd. Mass grading is underway as we prep the site for the building pad.

Cedars-Sinai and Torrance Memorial Medical Center (TMMC) are jointly developing a new Medical Office Building as part of the new Nash Street Exchange in El Segundo. The new MOB – a 2-story concrete tilt-up structure – will offer a variety of healthcare providers to benefit the local community. Level 1 will house Urgent Care, Imaging Suite (including CT and Ultrasound), Endoscopy services and procedure rooms, Multi-tenant ENT, Endoscopy, Surgery Clinic and Gynecological Oncology. Level 2 will be dedicated to Primary Care, Obstetrics, Pediatrics and Multi-specialty services, as well as feature a shared staff lounge and conference room. Construction on the core and shell is anticipated to be completed in Summer 2021 with full completion of tenant improvements by late January 2022.

We’ve been busy working on the expansion to Skechers’ Moreno Valley facility, lifting 52’ high panels to construct the new 767,455 SF warehouse and distribution building. With 31,189 cubic yards of concrete, 1,550 tons of rebar, 1,200 tons of steel and an army of 80-150 tradespeople a day, the structure went vertical over the course of the last 10 days. Each panel weighed in at approx. 197,600 to the heaviest at 378,900 lbs. – so heavy we had to bring in a special crane from Texas to lift them.

And the California Counties Architects and Engineers Association (CCAEA) awarded the 200,000 sf newly built Medical and Surgical Center at Riverside University Health System with its Public Project Award of Excellence in the Large Projects Category. We lifted the first panel today at LBA Logistics’ 880 Industrial Center in San Jose. Once complete, the new 179,600 sf state-of-the-art industrial building will feature 36’ clear height, 28 dock high doors and 77 container/trailer stalls. This was a true team effort and wouldn’t have been possible without seamless communication and collaboration. With Phase 1 nearly complete at Pacific Commons South in Fremont, we are starting Phase 2 vertical construction, lifting panels on Building 6. Once completed, the 1.7+ million square foot campus will feature ten free standing buildings with distinctive entries and window lines. Unlike traditional industrial developments, Pacific Commons South features a variety of campus-wide amenities, including EV charging stations, numerous outdoor break areas and pedestrian paths throughout the business park. The project is being developed by OMP and Invesco. #buildingahigherstandard

With the retirement of Bob Wissmann, who served as the Northern California Division President for the last three years, Brian Andrew takes the reins as new Division President for the region. Brian most recently served as Vice President of the division and was one of the original Millie and Severson employees who founded the division five years ago. Brian has overseen all project operations for every Northern California project we’ve built. He has been instrumental in guiding the division’s successful growth to the completion of nearly half a billion dollars of work on behalf of our clients and helping to build a team of more than 30 professionals.

Rounding out the leadership team are Mike Jones, Vice President of Operations; David Bayliss, Sr. Director of Client and Project Development; Matt Parkins, Chief Estimator; and Randy Stuart, General Superintendent. This team will continue to foster a collaborative company culture that attracts fellow professionals dedicated to excellence and exceeding client expectations. ​After more than 30 years with Millie and Severson, Bob Wissmann, Division President of our Northern California region, has retired. To many in the industry, Bob is synonymous with the company, having been the primary point of contact for so many clients, architects, brokers and other collaborators throughout his tenure. He joined the Millie and Severson team in 1990, and his leadership has been integral to our success
and growth.

Bob is the epitome of a construction professional with a true dedication to his clients and colleagues. Having worked on a variety of projects in the industrial, institutional, healthcare and commercial sectors, Bob has been involved in the construction of more than 30 million square feet of product over the last three decades. He is also valued for his mentorship to so many employees over the years.

“Bob is one of the finest, most knowledgeable and trusted construction professionals I’ve ever known,” noted Jon Severson, Chairman of Millie and Severson. “When he joined us all those years ago, I knew immediately that he was going to bring tremendous success to all of his efforts. He has never let us down.” In addition to his reputation as one of the most trusted names in the CRE industry, Bob is also deeply involved in his community. He has been a lay leader at his church and is looking forward to spending more time on ministry and with his family.

Millie and Severson has just completed a major revamp to a well-established Class A office campus in El Segundo with close proximity to LAX. A new visual theme emphasizes its rebranded name of Flyte, including metal archways and an entry known as The Gateway, ushering visitors to an open-air courtyard, replete with multiple seating areas for meeting, lounging and eating. There is a standalone meeting room building, an outdoor café, a kiosk, and various interactive areas, pathways and dynamic outdoor environments including a bocce ball court, ping pong tables and a fire pit. This new laboratory was nominated for the Los Angeles Business Journal’s Commercial Real Estate awards for Best Medical Project.

Cedars-Sinai is a world-renowned healthcare system serving the diverse Los Angeles community across its growing campus. When they decided to relocate the existing HLA, Cytogenics, Molecular Pathology and Transplantation Immunology laboratories to a new standalone building, they needed a sophisticated  project team to develop the state-of-the-art space for these specialty groups.

The building they selected was recently built and available for lease. Its proximity to the rest of the  Cedars-Sinai campus made it an ideal location.  It consists of a 3-story structure over 3 levels of underground parking and comprises 32,979 sf.

The first floor is parking valet, accessible parking and building support. Levels 2 and 3 are fit out as laboratories. The majority of the mechanical equipment is located on the roof. Level 2 was built out to relocate clinical laboratory spaces - Transplantation Immunology Lab (TIL) and Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) Labs – from the main campus. The Specialty Contract and CLIA laboratory occupy the 3rd floor.

Congratulations David Bayliss who was recently welcomed into NAIOP’s inaugural Executive Development program in the San Francisco Bay Area chapter. The NAIOP Executive Development (NED) Program is a 6-month personal and professional development program designed for professionals with 10+ years of commercial real estate and related experience. The NED program will assist in preparing its members to take the next steps in their commercial real estate careers by providing the opportunity for personal development and to build management, negotiation, presentation, and other essential skills. Dave brings more than 25 years experience and is widely respected for his personal commitment to exceeding our clients’ expectations. He leads our business development and preconstruction efforts in Northern California across the Industrial, Office, Healthcare, Education, Hospitality, and Senior Living sectors for ground-up, tenant improvement, and adaptive reuse projects.
