Currently, 10.9% of the construction workforce is women. At Millie and Severson we are proud to say 22.8% of our workforce is women - and we continue to grow that number. Millie and Severson is excited to be working with Trammell Crow Company on the Cochrane Technology Center in Morgan Hill, CA. The 500,000 sf Class A business park designed by HPA Architecture and Kier & Wright will include five industrial buildings on a 30-acre site, located within minutes of San Jose.
Congratulations to Overton Moore Properties' Avion Burbank which has recently earned LEED Gold certification – Building Design and Construction: Core and Shell Development – by fulfilling the requirements set by the U.S. Green Building Council. Millie and Severson is proud to have been the General Contractor on the 1 million+ sf creative office/industrial park, including 17 buildings over 60 acres.
Congratulations to Santa Clara University for taking home the sledgehammer in the 2nd Annual NAIOP Silicon Valley University Case Study Challenge against Menlo College and San Jose State University! Millie and Severson’s David Bayliss and Matt Parkins, Esq., JD, MBA acted as the General Contractor Industry Resource for all the teams who were tasked with evaluating a development site and then devising a complete proposal - which included a proforma with construction costs and schedule, as well as a sample design for a ground-up development based on current market conditions.
We are making great progress on Ontario Ranch Business Park (ORBP) in Ontario, CA. The project for Real Estate Development Associates, LLC and Clarion Partners LLC consists of 7 buildings totaling 1,677,272 sf, including Building 1 which is a 1.1 million sf distribution center for The Home Depot.
We enjoyed a day at the range for the 5th Annual Scouting Clays Shoot-Out, hosted by David Smith and Smith and Severson. The event benefits over 30,000 youth served by the Orange County Council, Boy Scouts of America. Thank you to all who participated!
We were honored to be included in the Freed Center groundbreaking event at Vanguard University of Southern California in Costa Mesa, CA. The ceremony included many emotional speeches from staff, students and City of Costa Mesa officials, and a message from Ms. Evelyn Freed - who provided the lead gift for the new 61,000 sf, state-of-the-art athletics and learning facility being built by Millie and Severson.
Millie and Severson recently broke ground and has started grading on Core5 Industrial Partners, LLC's Rider Business Center at 3120 Wilson Avenue, Perris, CA, located less than 2 miles from the I-215 freeway. The 248,483 square foot freestanding warehouse designed by Herdman Architecture + Design, Inc. sits on 11.18 acres.

Millie and Severson hit the greens at the Mission Viejo Country Club to participate in the 2022 OC Charity Classic Golf Tournament, benefiting Orange County Rescue Mission & Links Players Southern California. Out of 30+ teams, two of ours came in 2nd and 3rd!
Millie and Severson continues to build our relationship with Seefried Industrial Properties, Inc. and Tim Hoskins, Construction Manager – Amazon – West, with our most recent warehouse completion in Turlock, CA. Designed by Ware Malcomb, the 1,080,000 sf Amazon distribution center officially launched this past Sunday.
We climbed another 10 spots in the San Francisco Business Times’ annual ranking of Greater Bay Area General Contractors, coming in at #38. When we planted our flag here 7 years ago, we knew we would build great things for our clients. It’s humbling and gratifying to see how that vision has propelled us to the top of the pack in the Bay Area.

Bridge Industrial has selected us to build their latest development – Bridge Point South Bay VII. Designed by Herdman Architecture + Design, Inc., the new development will bring a state-of-the-art, high image Distribution Warehouse with major visibility to the South Bay, for just-in-time and last mile e-commerce tenants.
We have lifted panels at Overton Moore Properties’ Pacific Commons South in Fremont, CA. This final phase consists of 2 buildings and completes the 3-phase, 9 building, 1.5M sf project. Due to the current lead time for the typical panelized roof system, OMP, Millie and Severson, and the design team including HPA Architecture Ltd, Darin Fong and Associates, Inc. , and JD2, INC. came up with a wide flange metal deck option for this phase.
Excited to be lifting panels for Kearny Real Estate’s new Torrance Industrial Exchange. The two-building development will bring last mile distribution options to the South Bay, with a combined 427,604 sf on 21 acres with nearby access to LAX and the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles.

We are pleased to announce that we’ve just completed construction of Bridge Industrial’s new development – Bridge Point IV in Santa Fe Springs. The 150,548 sf facility was designed by Herdman Architecture + Design, Inc. and features a façade composed of a mixture of glass storefront and painted concrete panels with the entrance being wrapped with ornamental iron work, giving this building a unique look.
Millie and Severson is excited to announce that we have been selected to build Vanguard University of Southern California’s new athletics and learning facility – the Freed Center for Leadership + Service – as part of the university’s 30-year masterplan. The new 61,000-sf, three-story facility will seat up to 1,910 people for athletic events, more than double the previous capacity. It will also feature locker rooms, a weight room, athletics training room and serve as the home to the kinesiology department, including department offices, laboratories and four new general classrooms.
We are proud to be part of such a stellar and collaborative team including Urbana Development, studio one eleven, the City of Long Beach and the County of Los Angeles. The project has already been recognized by the Los Angeles Business Journal as a Best Headquarters project and is also a finalist for the first NAIOP SoCal Chapter Awards in the same category.
We were so happy to help REDA host the Industrial Bus Tour as part of this year’s NAIOP I.CON West at their build-to-suit for Uline in Ontario. More than 50 brokers visited the site and were treated to a tour of the +1.2 million square foot logistics center.

As part of a $225 million investment in Southern California industrial facilities, Duke Realty’s development at 13344 S. Main Street is a 290,139 square foot distribution center that is now occupied by Reyes Holdings for its most recent beverage distribution facility. Located in the coveted port-adjacent area of south Los Angeles, the project has become another key asset in Duke Realty’s strategic portfolio. Reyes Holdings pre-leased the property while construction was underway and the project team nimbly pivoted to incorporating all of its user-specific needs, including cold storage, a showroom, 29 dock doors and 303 parking spaces for both employees and customers.
The new Oakland AC Hotel & Residence Inn by Marriott is nearing completion of its 18 stories and 286 guest rooms. The façade’s architectural elements provide dimension and depth, while the lobby level is starting to take shape with framing finishing up in the next couple of weeks. This is a dual-branded hotel: extended stay Residence Inn guest rooms offer kitchenettes; AC Courtyard guestrooms feature typical Courtyard-quality finishes and amenities, providing visitors much-needed hotel options in the area. We hope the hotel will serve as a welcoming new landmark in the neighborhood.

We’ve just started construction on Phase 3 of Pacific Commons South in Fremont for Overton Moore Properties. Phase 3 will complete the 1.7 million sf / 137-acre multi-building project that was the 2021 Excellence in Construction winner from ABC NorCal. Phase 3 includes two new buildings and is anticipated to be completed in mid-2022.

We’ve started lifting panels at Dedeaux Properties’ new 205,590 sf warehouse in Perris. Designed by Carlile Coatsworth Architects, the new project will offer easy access to the I-215 Freeway and is in a growing hub of warehouse and distribution centers in the Inland Empire. Next up, we’ll be constructing the exterior concrete stairs and erecting columns and beams as we get closer to putting in the panelized roof. The project is scheduled to be completed in the first quarter of 2022.

We just completed the four-building Washington Business Park for REDA and Crow Holdings in San Bernardino that was designed by HPA Architecture. Each building offers more than 100,000 sf of industrial space, perfect for the explosion of eCommerce and logistics companies seeking space in the Inland Empire.
Stanford Medicine Partners has occupied the newly constructed medical office building in Castro Valley that we’ve just completed for developer Meridian. It delivers patients a comprehensive offering of healthcare services including primary care, pediatric care, OB/GYN, radiology, ophthalmology and laboratory testing across its two stories and 25,000 square feet. Designed by Ware Malcomb, the space evokes calm and serenity in waiting areas, procedure rooms, and even dressing rooms. Stanford Medicine Partners welcomed their first patients into the new facility in early September.
Another milestone for our new AC Marriott Hotel + Residence Inn in Oakland: we’re starting to dismantle the scaffolding. The video shows the mast climbing being disassembled piece by piece on the south elevation. Once it all comes down, we will be able to finish connecting all the wet utilities.

We started elevator installation at the new AC Hotel & Residence Inn by Marriott in Oakland. Completing the first two (of five) is critical to obtain a temporary use permit, which will allow the removal of the man lift. Once that’s done, we can frame and close up the side of the building. Working select overtime with multiple shifts, we anticipate completion on the first two elevators to take 14 weeks, to be followed by the installation of the remaining three elevators.

EIFS is going up on the new AC Marriott Hotel & Residence Inn in Oakland. The 18-story hotel is rising in a very tight urban infill site, requiring precise coordination and sequencing. We now have our mast climbing system at various elevations to work on the core wall.

Celebrating another milestone at our project for Laserfiche’s new headquarters in Long Beach – we placed the last concrete deck at the roof level of the parking structure, wrapping up a total of 6 deck pours. To thank our incredible subcontractor partners, we threw a lunch party with raffle drawings for some nifty prizes. Thank you to Laserfiche, StudioOneEleven and Urbana Development for making the event such a success.
Seefried Industrial Properties, Inc. has selected us for another exciting project, this time in Turlock. The 1+million sf complex distribution facility was designed by Ware Malcomb and is off to a great start. After achieving certification of the pad, we’ve begun pouring the slab. Simultaneously, site utilities are fully underway, while panels are being formed at record pace. Tilting the panels is just around the corner. We’re thrilled that Seefried has entrusted us with building this massive project which will be completed next spring. #buildingahigherstandard
