Ben Severson

Ben Severson

President

Ben leads our Southern California Operations team, providing oversight and guidance on best practices, policies, safety and quality control. Ben joined Millie and Severson as Controller in 2011, responsible for accounting and financial reporting for the company. He was then appointed to Chief Financial Officer, spearheading all the firm’s cash management, investments and insurance. He recently served in a leadership role in our Northern California office where he provided expertise in Operations, Estimating and Finance. As a member of the third generation of the Severson family to work at the company, Ben is part of the connection between the company’s strong roots and helping pave its bright future. Prior to joining the firm, Ben worked as an auditor for the Internal Revenue Service. He graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of California.

Clark Severson

Clark Severson

Chairman of the Board and General Counsel

Clark serves as General Counsel and Chief Financial Officer. Clark joined Millie and Severson in 2007 and is responsible for all legal matters, including contract review and other corporate business. Since 2017, he has also served as Chief Financial Officer, stepping into the role after his brother moved to Northern California to support the company’s operations there. Clark received a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School.

Jon joined the company in 1975 after graduating from the United States Military Academy at West Point and has served the company in nearly every capacity over the last four decades. Serving as President, Jon’s leadership has been a key factor in the company’s sustained excellence. He helped launch Millie and Severson on its successful trajectory where his leadership, passion for building, construction expertise, and commitment to client satisfaction continue to guide us into our next chapter of excellence.

Brian K. Andrew, P.E.

Division President, Northern California

Brian is a highly skilled construction professional with more than 18 years of experience in the construction industry. The combination of solid leadership, communication and technical knowledge has spurred success in all of Brian’s projects.

With strong analytical and problem solving skills, he positively impacts all his projects from preconstruction to value engineering to cost management. With Brian’s exceptional project management leadership, he has overseen all project operations for every Northern California project we’ve built.

Brian is a graduate of the College of William and Mary Mason School of Business where he holds a Master of Business Administration degree. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Virginia Military Institute. Brian is also a U.S. Army Veteran who served as a Military Officer in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

John’s career has spanned three decades in the real estate, finance, and construction industries. Since joining Millie and Severson in 2001, he has provided leadership on a wide variety of project types. With exceptional industry experience, he is finely attuned to identifying project issues and working closely with the owner and project team. In his role as Senior Vice President, John is actively involved in overseeing all business development. He is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles.

Doran is a highly skilled project executive who provides oversight and input for all aspects of preconstruction, including client and design-team collaboration for constructability reviews, schedule development, value engineering opportunities and cost estimating. As the leader of our preconstruction services team, he ensures the seamless transition into construction and remains involved as a key consultant until project closeout. With a long history of boots-on-the-ground field work, Doran approaches each project with the confidence that no issue is insurmountable and all challenges may be managed effectively through collaboration and open, honest feedback. With more than 40 years of experience on large-scale projects in Healthcare, Institutional, Industrial, Mixed-Use, and Office, Doran provides exceptional leadership and exceeds our clients’ expectations.

Vice President / Director of Estimating

Scott brings more than 30 years of experience delivering complex commercial, retail and institutional projects on schedule and within budget. As the leader of our estimating department, Scott works diligently to ensure that no stone goes unturned and every potential issue – from hidden costs to potential delays – is anticipated by our team. Scott earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Cornell University and his M.B.A. from UCLA Anderson School of Management.

Mark Baranick

Vice President

Mark serves as a key liaison with our clients and our operations team as he works with clients to understand their project needs and develop solutions to bring their buildings to life. He very often consults with owners and developers at the earliest stages of development, linking them to our preconstruction and estimating teams to provide budgets and preliminary schedules that help them pencil out their projects for maximum success. To date, Mark has served clients in the development and construction of millions of square feet all across California. Before joining Millie and Severson in 2016, Mark spent two years with another California general contractor and 12 years with one of CBRE’s premier South Bay brokerage teams where he marketed more than 2 million sf of commercial office, medical and industrial/flex properties for lease and sale. Mark earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from University of California, San Diego.

With over 27 years of construction experience, Matt is a master builder and an accomplished collaborator. As General Superintendent, he oversees the efforts of all field personnel, ensuring that issues are identified early and resolved expeditiously, all while maintaining safe and healthy job sites. He has worked on numerous large-scale projects in a variety of sectors including Industrial, Office, Healthcare and Institutional, from ground-up construction to expansions and renovations. Matt’s expertise in managing schedule and budget while ensuring the highest quality is valued by clients, subcontractors and employees alike.

Sandra Gutierrez

Director of Corporate Operations

Sandra has been a part of the Millie and Severson team since 1996. She has made significant contributions to the efficiencies of operations for the company by having participated in a variety of department cross functions such as accounting, subcontracting, project delivery, contract administration, IT and operations. Aside from maximizing efficiency, she has improved company profitability by directing and coordinating financial and budget processes. Her tireless efforts are reflected in our established and proven company procedures and policies.

Holly Beatty

Controller

Holly is responsible for the company’s financial accounting operations and reporting, managing more than $750 million in contracts annually. Holly has 25 years of experience in accounting in the A/E/C industry and is a valued member of the leadership team. She earned her B.S. in Accounting from the University of La Verne and is also a California Certified Tax Preparer and Notary Public. She joined Millie and Severson in 2014.

David Bayliss

Dave brings more than 30 years of managerial and executive experience in business development and operations to assist Millie and Severson’s clients and business partners. In his role, Dave focuses on assisting new and existing clients from the early stages of site selection all the way through the preconstruction process, which he oversees for Millie and Severson’s Northern California Division. An active member of NAIOP, ULI, SPIRE, BOMA, ACRE, and several other industry organizations, Dave also leads many of the division’s charity/community outreach efforts. He graduated Stanford University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English.

Christy joined Millie and Severson in 2022, bringing over 15 years of experience in all aspects of corporate marketing, and 4 years in the A/E/C industry. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Marketing from George Mason University.
