Architect: SmithGroup Architects

One of the first Senior Housing projects built by Millie and Severson, Stark Villas Assisted + Independent Living provides a 70-unit/3 story assisted/independent living facility with dining, recreation and administrative spaces. The thoughtful design allowed for flexibility as the residents’ needs change, supporting the aging-in-place model. The finishes offer residents a modern take on senior housing options and also include lush gardens that can be viewed from within via transparent walls in the community’s common areas, which also provides an abundance of natural daylight inside. Soothing colors and natural materials are found throughout, giving the space a sense of relaxation and tranquility. But the spaces also provide ample opportunities for energetic residents to enjoy an active lifestyle, both inside and out. In addition to the Roddy McDowall Memorial Rose Garden, there is also a kitchen garden, koi pond, outdoor dining areas and exercise pavilions. The spaces artfully combine simplicity with modern elements to encourage community engagement and independence.
