Healthcare Projects
Scope: Seismic Upgrades + Tenant Improvements
74,500 sf/4 Stories + Lower Level
Architect: SWA Architects
In order to provide greater patient safety, PIH Health Hospital in Downey proactively engaged Millie and Severson to perform structural upgrades from SPC1 to SPC2 (Seismic Performance Category). The project entails adding shear walls on both ends of the hospital across four floors in an occupied environment, allowing the hospital to remain operational during construction. The project scope calls for installing strut beams to carry the load with a building buttress structure that the strut beams attach to. Additionally, we are providing tenant improvements to 12,000 sf on the first floor, including administrative spaces and ten restrooms, plus remodeling the lower level 5,000 sf cafeteria, all while allowing the hospital to remain operational. The former morgue is being remodeled into a Holding Room with an addition of a 144 sf Viewing Room.
We're here to help.
